Lucien Renette (2003) was born in Gemert and started playing the violin when he was eight years old. He started at the music school in Gemert and after taking lessons there for three years, he auditioned at the ‘Young musicians academy’ at the conservatory in Tilburg and was accepted there. Since then he had violin lessons with Annemieke Corstens. Lucien has been studying at the Conservatory of Amsterdam with Tjeerd Top since September 2020. Lucien has followed master classes with Lorenzo Gatto, the Delta Piano Trio, Dr. Ayke Agus (ex-assistant of Jascha Heifetz) and more.
Lucien has played as a violinist on various stages throughout the Netherlands. At the age of 12, Lucien actively started playing in chamber music ensembles. Lucien has also been able to solo with various orchestras, and has worked with conductors such as Jules van Hessen, Dominic Seldis and Ed Spanjaard. In 2018, Lucien was accepted as a first violinist of the Youth Orchestra of the Netherlands and was later appointed as one of its leaders. Since 2022, Lucien has been concertmaster of the VU orchestra, and has performed in various halls in the Netherlands and abroad, including in the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, where he performed pieces such as Mahler’s second symphony with the Netherlands Concert Choir, and in the Royal Theater Carré where he worked with the Dutch Travel Opera on Puccini’s La Boheme.
In 2016 he reached the finals of the ‘Jeune Dominique‘ competition, and in 2019 he won a first prize, the audience prize, the Laureates prize and other prizes at the Princess Christina Competition. Lucien is also involved in art, literature, composing his own works, and collecting unknown classical music.
