The Otilka Quartet, a dynamic and international ensemble of four curious musicians, was born from a shared passion for classical music and the intention to push the boundaries of the traditional string quartet. In addition to performing the standard repertoire, the quartet experiments with works by lesser-known composers.
Founded in September 2020 at the prestigious Conservatorium van Amsterdam, this string quartet has quickly established itself as a promising ensemble in the world of chamber music.

Over the past few years, the Otilka Quartet has performed numerous concerts, some of which have been recorded by Podium Klassiek, NPO Klassiek, or the Concertzender. You can find various audio and video recordings under Agenda, Past events and on the Media page.

In February 2024, the Otilka Quartet participated in the IX International Music Competition Triomphe de l’Art in Brussels. They won second prize and were invited to perform at the final Gala Concert. Jury chair Marc Danel, violinist and founder of the renowned Quatuor Danel and artistic director of the Nederlandse Strijkkwartet Akademie (NSKA), awarded the Otilka Quartet a cash prize, a concert at the Concertgebouw, and masterclasses at the NSKA.
The Nederlandse Strijkkwartet Akademie guides young, talented quartets towards a flourishing future in the international performing arts scene.

Later that year, they play a major role in the Jubileumweek over 100 jaar geschiedenis van Huize Gaudeamus in Bilthoven, performing both the concert during the official opening and a later program featuring composers who have been significantly influenced by Huize Gaudeamus.
